Welcome to the Luther Trail in Saxony-Anhalt. The trail invites you to visit authentic Luther sites, such as Luther’s birthplace, his childhood home, Wittenberg Castle Church, the site of the posting of the theses, and the house where he died.
The route also takes you through charming landscapes, wine regions and various nature parks. Here you can find peace and relaxation or simply unwind.

Route description
The Luther Trail in Saxony is a spiritual circular hiking trail that takes you along 27 stations through places where Martin Luther and his companions lived and worked. In 29 stages, totalling 550 km in length, you can expect varied landscapes, river meadows and lakes as well as famous castles and palaces. Thuringia
Route description
Embedded in varied landscapes, the Luther Trail leads along a length of over 1,000 kilometres to impressive sights in the Free State. The Luther Trail opens up Thuringia on a western and a southern loop as well as on a route to the northern Mansfeld region and an eastern route towards Saxony.
Brandenburg
Route description
Along the Luther Trail in Brandenburg, hikers and pilgrims have the opportunity to secure the first East Elbe stamps from the German Luther Trail Association.

Bavaria
Route description
There are currently two routes of the Luther Trail in the north of Bavaria. One part connects to the Thuringian Luther Trail in the Coburg region. Covering almost 100 kilometres, it connects the towns of the Reformation such as Coburg, Neustadt bei Coburg and Bad Rodach.
Another part of the Luther Trail runs in Middle Franconia between Nuremberg and Augsburg.
Hesse
Route description
The Luther Trail in Hesse (Luther Trail 1521) has a total length of 350 kilometres and is an offer for pilgrims and hikers who are interested in the Reformation and its effects, but also for those who are looking for recreation and relaxation from everyday life.
Rhineland-Palatinate
Route description
The “Lutherweg Rheinhessen” with its almost 44 kilometres is a section of the path that Martin Luther followed around 500 years ago on his pilgrimage from Wartburg Castle in Thuringia to the Imperial Diet in Worms and back.
