Pilgrimage

Pilgrimages combine singing and praying, walking and silence. We are on the way with others. We encounter sacred places. We realise the gift of our own life and faith. As a rule, we travel somewhere without thinking. It’s good to feel the ground beneath our feet. And to see the open sky.

Come to rest

Here I am,
God, before you,
Just as I am.

With my tension,
with my joy,
with my impatience,
with my longing.

God, source of life,
renew me.
Amen.

(Andrea Felsenstein-Roßberg)

Life – one way

Setting off, travelling, arriving –
These words can also be used to
describe the life of Jesus.
After his baptism, he sets out.
He leaves his previous hidden life.
He goes into the desert for 40 days and nights.
Then he travelled through the towns and villages.
And his death on the cross allows him to arrive
with the Father in heaven.

Departures

Sometimes we have to break free,
from what binds us, what ties us down.
Sometimes we have to free ourselves
from that which
into its spell.
Sometimes we have to go new ways,
so that we can find ourselves again.

On the way

God bless you and keep you safe.
May God shine
his face upon you
and have mercy on you.
May God lift up his countenance
upon you and give you peace.
Amen.
